EMBARRASSING CONVERSATIONS YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE WITH YOUR BOSS
I have a week off from work! Isn't that a grand accomplishment if you're me? I have fun things planned with friends and I'm excited about it! They're not big plans. Just things like dinners, baking cookies, watching dvds and beating them at Mario Kart. I don't want to have big plans. I just want to chill!
We had an evaluation at work last week, which was kinda a big deal, because we spent about two weeks preparing for it. All employees had to make sure they knew the rules and stuff. My boss said, 'look at the handbook.' I've been working there for a year and that's the first time someone has even mentioned the handbook to me, but hey. I was a little bit worried about the evalution until I walked into the building and saw it was just a cute guy my age doing the evaluating. Nothing scary at all. I think in the end, he spent more time talking to me about non-work things than doing the evaluations. The final evalution was with my boss and after she escorted him out of the building. I was so bummed that we didn't get the chance to exchange numbers or email anymore. I expected that I would still get to talk to him after the evaluation and exchange details then.
After living a weekend filled with regret, I decided I should ask the one person who has his information: my boss. Now believe me, this is a conversation you don't want to be having. It's just so incredibly embarrassing! Not to mention unprofessional. My boss.. I like her. But she's very business-like and some people are frightened of her, so I wasn't sure how she would react. I said to her: 'Remember that guy that was here for the evaluation last week? Well, I kinda regret not asking him his email.' Now picture me being totally mortified. Lucky for me she thought it was hilarious! And bonus, she liked him so she agreed to give me his email as long as I keep her updated on my little quest.
Two days later I shot him an email and received a reply not long after that he was happy to hear from me. We emailed back and forth and he asked me to go with him to a party from his company, but I said no because I had to work. The next day I had a meeting with my boss and afterwards she said: 'But what I'm dying to know is what happened with the guy?!' So I told her and her reply was: 'Not to put any pressure on you, but if it works out between you guys, it will totally make up for the crap year we (the company) have had so far.' And then she said I should've gone to the party. And when I reminded her I had to work, she said: 'So what?' See, I can't take time off when I have the flu, but when it comes to going out with cute guys working is optional. Hmmm.. well, we'll see how it goes.
New layout featuring Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf! I just love this picture of them. It's so cute. I was kinda tired of the Amy Adams layout as it is so summer-y and the weather here is gloomy. I can't believe it's almost November! Time flies by way too fast. Before you know it, it's Christmas again! I bet it won't be long before you start on your Christmas cards, Ciel! As for me, I'm not a big fan of the holiday, but we're always early when it comes to putting up the tree and stuff. I'm sure it will be up in about two weeks.
Thanks for all the lovely comments you guys left on my previous entry! I appreciate it! I haven't been doing much since I last blogged except for working. I've been trying to get a week off for about two weeks now, but I never get around to asking my boss. Either she's in a meeting or out of the country. Last week I had the flu (again!) and my entire body was so tired. I just couldn't work. But my colleague also had the flu, and the only volunteer we have who is allowed to open and close the place was on holiday, so I had to work. Which was awful. Everything went wrong. We had server problems. The coffee machine was leaking. One of the therapists quit. I'm in desperate need of time off. I haven't had a week off since last Christmas! Also, my contract expires in about two weeks and we haven't even talked about renewing it yet. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I want to, because the work is quite boring. But the pay is good. And finding a 'therapist' job isn't easy.
Be sure to vote in my poll on the left. I'm trying to solve an age old mystery. And, if you're a US citizen and you're old enough, vote on November 4th! We need change! We're suffering from the economic crisis too!
That's what 5 years of university gets you. Plus, debt of course. So I graduated 2 weeks ago, but it already seems more like six years ago. I'm now officially a Master of Science. I get to put MSc. behind my name or drs. (doctorandus) in front of it.
The day was okay. My mother woke me at 6 am, which pissed me off since I had set the alarm for 6.30. She was kinda a pain the entire day. I got dressed and asked her how I looked and she replied 'okay'. Which is not something you want to hear. One of my friends bought me flowers and my mother asked why. Etc etc. Everyone was happy and proud, except her, like she was trying to ruin it on purpose or something.
Anyways. I was the first person to graduate that day. I had only invited a few friends to come, because it was only 10 minutes and too damn early. While on my way there that morning, my friend Henriette texted me saying she wanted to come. I told her it was my turn in about 40 minutes so I didn't think she would make it, but she said she was already on her way! That was really sweet of her. My two best friends from high school came, as well as Amber, Anne, Marnix and Martijn, and my parents and my sister.

Woah. I kinda fell off the face of the earth for a couple of days. I wanted to update my sites and blog on Wednesday, but my internet didn't work. It wasn't until Sunday that it was working again. It totally threw me off track. I finally had time to blog and return comments, and I couldn't. So I was suddenly stuck with all this spare time and nothing to do. It kinda made me realize how much time I spend online, which is kinda yikes. But I guess if I also maintain a healthy social life, it's okay.
Hmmm.. anyways. My previous entry was very angry and frustrated. I have calmed down. I'm feeling more zen now. I'm graduating tomorrow and a bunch of friends are coming to witness the grand moment. I talked with my mom that I don't really want to feel obligated to spend the day with my sister, because it's her birthday as well, and she was cool with that. Which really surprised me, because she has really been guilt tripping me into spending more time with my sister, because she's such a train wreck and all. I mean, she's turning 33. She's an adult. She should be taking control over her life.
I went to Marn and Casey's graduations last week and that's what really mellowed me. Even though it was insanely early, it was nice to see everyone again. I saw people I haven't seen in months. Xander? My God, it's been 6 months. Garrett? At least six months. I always get so excited seeing these people I know. Which also made me realize that I really miss them, which is sad. I saw Steven and I missed him the most of all of those guys and he was with his former BFF Mark (ugh) and their frat buddies (double ugh), so I didn't really get the chance to talk with him. Collectively, those guys are bassholes. Witness the following exchange:
Steven: So you're finally done, huh? Me: Yeah, I mailed you about that remember? [3 months ago] Steven: Yeah. I should've mailed you back about that. That would've been nice.
What was that? Seriously? Anyways, I also wanted to tell you about my encounter with Chris after I swore that I never wanted anything to do with him again, and that one of my friends is having serious issues and has become a danger to himself. Let's just say he took a fall and nearly killed himself. We're not sure how we're supposed to deal with that yet. Hmm.. Well, I must go sleep. Have to get up early tomorrow!
